Game Report | ||
Sheffield Steelers 4-2 London Racers Racers were quickest out of the blocks tonight as Sheffield were caught cold. From a face-off on the left the puck reached Nick Burton and he netted with just 84 seconds on the clock. Just under 2 minutes later the same player broke away from his own zone and finished with ease (03:21). Sheffield started to take the game to London and Evan Lindsay survived a big scramble around his goal on 10 minutes. Just over 4 minutes later and Bobyck hit the far post from the right when it seemed easier to score. Mike Peron also rang the post before the first interval. Just 2 minutes into the second the world's worst line change left 3 Steelers skating in alone on the goalie. Steve Ellis had the puck, drew Lindsay and passed inside for Mark Dutiuame to score (22:00). London began to work Pasi Raitnenen and Kirk DeWaele fished the puck off his goal line. At the other end Erik Anderson had time and space but failed to get a shot away. But Steelers levelled when Mark Dutiuame stepped out of the penalty box to receive a long pass and went in solo and scored (38:02). The third period produced few quality chances at either end but suddenly Steve Ellis whipped home the game winner from 6 feet (54:04) and Racers looked tired. Mark Dutiuame fed Marc Lefebvre from behind the goal for the final goal (56:38) to send 2595 fans home happy whilst London were left to reflect on another game that got away. |
